Joseph Mancinelli, International Vice President and Regional Manager of Central and Eastern Canada, Laborers’ International Union of North America, testified in front of the Senate Natural Resources, Energy and Technology joint meeting in support of Line 5 on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.
In his testimony, Mancinelli thanked the Committee for the opportunity to present LIUNA’s position on the Governor’s recent order to shut down Line 5 Enbridge pipeline and discussed the important role Line 5 plays in our jobs and our communities.
“If we want to kill jobs, delay the economic recovery, hurt the number of industries and business sectors, then let’s go ahead and kill Enbridge’s Line 5. But if we want a vibrant economy with good paying jobs, let’s build a new pipeline 100 feet below the lakebed in a tunnel with modern safety measures, with checks and balances to ensure another 65 years of safe pipeline delivering product to market,” said Mancinelli.
