On September 19, 2024, the 6th Annual Scholarship Fund Golf Outing took place at Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath, Michigan. This year’s event was a huge success, with 120 golfers coming together to raise a record-breaking $213,500 for the Michigan Laborers’ Scholarship Fund.
The outing brought together many participants and sponsors, including LIUNA local unions, signatory contractors, association partners, money managers, and labor movement supporters. Their collective generosity continues to have a profound impact on Michigan Laborers and their families by providing financial support for higher education.
Supporting Laborers’ Families Through Education
The funds raised during the event will be used to support scholarships for the children and dependents of Michigan Laborers who are pursuing education at colleges, universities, vocational, and technical schools. This crucial financial aid helps ease the burden of education costs for the hard-working men and women of LIUNA and their families.
Alex Zurek, Secretary-Treasurer for the Michigan Laborers’ District Council made this statement:
“We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support we receive from sponsors and participants year after year. This event plays a vital role in helping Michigan Laborers’ families access the educational opportunities they deserve.”
In 2024, the Michigan Laborers’ Scholarship Fund was able to provide 68 scholarships totaling $68,000. Thanks to the continued support for the Annual Golf Outing, the Scholarship Fund has grown, and we anticipate more scholarships to be awarded in the coming year.
